Medical School Acceptance Letters were Judged to be More Intelligent when Applicants use Clear Simple Words.
Do you have doubts about whether using big words actually make you sound smarter or helps you get a better grade on a letter or essay?
A mock experiment had participants rate the intelligence of medical school admission letters where the letters either used fancy words or simple words. The letters with fewer fancy words were actually judged to be more intelligent.
This is true for writing reports for classes as well. Keep your writing simple and straight to the point may get you a higher grade.
